Business Context
Most modern power plants were built in the past 50 years. The data used to build them was often delivered or archived in paper format, proprietary format or basic computer files. These vast and critical datasets were rarely integrated into existing modern management systems or delivered in an intelligent format. As a result, the time lost trying to track information for simple decisions can cost hundreds of hours in productivity.
Energia needed to find a way to continually maintain energy delivery while managing and being proactive to the needs of a mature operational plant and new assets across Renewables. Integrating existing energy power generation systems with modern technologies and digitising old systems would be key to ongoing operational success.
After taking time to understand the challenges, DAD delivered a proof of concept. They mapped out a plan to transition the data with ease, so all information was readily available at a click of a button.
Best Practice Integration
Energia integrated DAD with their inhouse software, and the two platforms work seamlessly together. Energia can embrace true Digital Twin concepts irrespective of system platform, thanks to DAD.
DAD was very much a conceptual idea posed to the team at Energia, then taken on as a proof of concept. After three months, it was embedded within the organisation as a vital tool of their ongoing operating systems.
Now, Energia not only has the schematics of the power plant, the asset lists and work plans online in their EAMS, the DAD system also integrates the original documentation and delivers information of any changes along with a record of who completed the change, for a seamless, low risk environment. Energia’s data and documentation is at all times accurate and integrated.
DAD delivers time savings, efficiency and improved operational outcomes. It also makes the business more sustainable as Energia look into the future.
